Greetings from the Dock

Happy summer, everyone! Edith, KJ and I are busy getting things ship shape for the 10th year of ESYCC Sailing. We have some great things planned.

But first I'd like to address the loss of our newest Pico. With the generosity of so many folks in our “Buy a Piece of a Pico” campaign, we were able to raise the funds to buy a new boat.  Russ and I were on our second cross country driving trip – somewhere between Montana and Oregon – when I found just the right boat online.  She was a beauty ---- and on sale at the Annapolis Boat Show.  Thanks to cell phones and the internet we were able to snap her up.  She was everything we wanted --- and at a great price.  Then in May someone snapped her up from our parking lot. As you can imagine, this has been a big jolt to all of us that worked so hard to get her here. However, we had to move on.  At the time of this happening, our program was about 80% sold out.  We were depending on the third Pico! So we filed a police report and insurance claim ---- and ordered another Pico. It's on the way.  It’s due in some time soon.

To all of you that have supported our sailing program, financially and otherwise, I want to take this opportunity to personally say “Thank You!!!”  As of now we are nearly sold out of class space.  And it's going to be a super summer!

Edith, KJ and I have got some great things coming.  Some are more obvious than others right now.  A brand new shed to store all of our equipment, that was literally busting out of the box on the dock last summer, has been designed and constructed by Edith and her husband Ken.  We should have LOTS of room to grow as well as a great spot to work with the kids on “land sailing.” Next, we have all new sails for the Optis.  Those boats are sailing into their 10th summer and needed a little umph!  And if we hope to get our kids out in the Bay racing next year, new sails were a must.

Speaking of racing, we have two racing clinics this summer each two weeks long.  Yep, we'll have races again but this year they are on Friday evenings.  Be sure to come out and cheer the kids on with a cup of Vicki's cheer from the Tiki Bar.

That's about it for now.  Stop by to see us on the docks this summer.  We'll be having fun – as always!  Thanks to everyone – especially those corporate sponsors of our new boat.  To each of you – pay special attention to the sail on our new Pico.  Hope you like it!!!

Annie
